Scope
What a certification covers, and what it does not.
Certification is scope-specific: it covers the legal entity, brands, domains, services and states listed in the certificate, and nothing outside that scope.
- Certification does not extend automatically to new brands, domains, states or services added after review
- Certification does not represent approval, endorsement or accreditation by any government body or third party
- Certification decisions are scope-specific and are not transferable to an unrelated entity
Applicant obligations
What an applicant and certified organization agree to.
- 1
Accuracy
Information, documents and evidence submitted must be accurate and current when submitted.
- 2
Timely notice of material change
Material changes — new states, services, brands, ownership or third-party partners — must be reported promptly so the certification record can be reconciled.
- 3
Cooperation
Responding to reviewer requests and monitoring inquiries within the timelines communicated for the review.
- 4
Correct use of status
Displaying certification status only as accurately described by the current certificate and badge terms.
Fees
How program fees are structured.
Fees are structured around the certification lifecycle rather than tied to review outcome. Specific amounts are communicated during application and renewal rather than fixed in these terms.
- 1
Application fee
Associated with initiating a review of a defined scope.
- 2
Certification fee
Associated with an issued, active certification.
- 3
Renewal fee
Associated with periodic reassessment to maintain active status.
- 4
Scope-change fee
Associated with reviewing a material change reported mid-cycle.
Badge licensing
Using the ScriptClear mark.
An active, accurately scoped certification includes a limited license to display the ScriptClear badge under the badge use terms.
Suspension and revocation
When status changes.
Certification status can be suspended or revoked for unresolved critical findings, undisclosed material change, badge misuse or failure to meet renewal obligations.
Publication of status
Certification status is a public record.
Active certification, scope and status changes are reflected on the public verification profile so partners can check status independently rather than relying solely on a displayed badge.
See /verify for the current record of any certification status.
No guarantee
Certification does not guarantee third-party outcomes.
ScriptClear does not guarantee that any processor, bank, advertising platform, pharmacy or regulator will approve, accept or recognize a certified organization. Those parties make independent eligibility and enforcement decisions.
FAQ
Questions we hear often
- Does certification transfer if my business is acquired?
- No, not automatically. A change in ownership is a material change that must be reported and reconciled with the certification record.
- Are certification fees tied to the number of findings?
- No. Fees are structured around the certification lifecycle, not the outcome of a review.
- Can I appeal a decline-to-certify decision?
- Yes, through the appeals process described at /certification/appeals, heard by a reviewer not involved in the original decision.
