Appeals
Decisions can be challenged.
A certification program is only credible if its decisions can be tested. Appeals are reviewed by someone who was not part of the original decision, against the same published standards.

What this page covers
Grounds
What can be appealed.
- A finding based on a factual error about the business
- Application of a standard that was not in effect at review
- Evidence that was submitted but not considered
- A scope determination the applicant disputes
- A suspension or revocation decision
Process
How an appeal proceeds.
- 1
Submission
The appeal is filed in writing within the window stated in the decision, identifying the specific finding or decision contested.
- 2
Acknowledgement
Receipt is confirmed and the appeal is logged with the original decision record.
- 3
Independent review
A reviewer with no involvement in the original decision examines the record and any new evidence.
- 4
Outcome
The decision is upheld, amended or reversed, with written reasoning.
Independence
Separation of decision-making.
Reviewers do not decide appeals on their own work, and commercial roles do not participate in certification or appeal decisions.
Appeal outcomes are final within the ScriptClear program and do not affect any third party's independent decisions.
